A king needed to deliver a letter to the queen of another country, so he called for his trusty messenger, Travis. Travis is a great runner and a honest man, he can run miles and miles without losing his breathe. Rumor has it that the king provides a secret source of energy where by whoever taps into it would receive unlimited strength!
In the king's court, Travis received instructions, directions and the letter for the queen in a distant land. Before sending him off, the king blessed Travis with strength and a safe journey.
The king gave Travis 3 hours to prepare for the journey, so he wasted no time and started gathering things needed. He packed 2 stacks of books for entertainment, one huge pile of food for self-satisfactory, eight sets of clothes just in case he met some girls on his way, three pairs of shoes, two swords for self-defense, a guitar for music in the night, firewood for setting up camp fire, a tent and a sleep mat to rest. The weight of all those could crush a normal man but Travis is strong and tough.
Travis picked up his huge sack and began to run for the king. After two days of running, the land of the queen is still nowhere in sight! He looked back, only to realize he covered very little distance as the king's country is still visible! Puzzled, he did analyzing, trying to pin-point why he is making such slow progress even though he could run non-stop! He looked down at the foot prints he was making and had a sudden realization that they sank down deep into the ground! He is too heavy!
He threw down the books for entertainment, and instantly, his speed increased! He felt lighter than before! After a distance, he started thinking about the letter, on its level of importance, maybe the queen needs it urgently! So he threw down the sets of clothes, sandals and guitar! His speed increased tremendously!
After a day, the queen's country is still no where in sight! He thought of the king, and how good the king has treated him, how the king had loved him. With that thought, he threw down his remaining burdens and gave all his strength to running for the king!
Within moments, Travis was in the court of the queen. The queen was overjoyed upon receiving the letter and wishes to award Travis, but he rejected the offer as treasures and gold may weigh him down. With that, the queen sent Travis off.
Within a day, Travis arrived back at the king court! The king was amazed at the speed Travis ran for him! From that day on, Travis was made a noble and was able to eat with the king at the king's table.
Sometimes, even if you have unlimited strength and energy to do something but burdens and shackles are weighing you down, the results would not be as great as when you give it your all! Its not only how long you can run but also how fast you run.
