suitable shoe

Derek is a little boy who love shoes. He has a loving father which always nags at him to only find the right shoe for his feet!

"There are many beautiful and nice looking shoes out there but keep in mind that not all fits your feet!" He would say.

Derek's father is a professional when it comes to shoes since his job is a shoe maker. However, Derek does not always listen to professional advices. Occasionally, he would come across shoes that catches his breath. He tries his best to get his hands on that shoe without putting into consideration if the shoe fits. After spending much time and finance, he would either get the shoe or get depressed. Depressed from failure to get the shoes.

If he have the shoe in his possession, Derek would shower love and care over it. But when an unsuitable shoe is wore on your feet, over time it brings discomfort and pain to the feet. Derek's way of handling such situation was to just part ways with the shoe. Sometimes a week, sometimes a month, sometimes 3 months. Over all, none of the time spent was more than half a year on one shoe. Then he would search for others shoes and spends time, effort, and finance to gain possession. The cycle goes on and on.

Derek gets shoes just for the sake of having something on his feet. It would not only damage the feet in due time. Insteadn of a mind set of "I want to get shoes so that I can wear it forever!" it slowly became "I am just gonna throw it away after awhile!". He could never enjoy a pair of shoe partly due to the pain in his feet, partly due to his mindset.

One day, Derek's father pointed out to him a pair of shoe which really caught his attention in an instant. The size, shape, curves, fits around his feet like a glove! Although he got the shoe, as hard as he tries, he could not enjoy the shoe to the fullest. All the past hurts on his feet and mental barriers prevented that.

Over dinner, the father asked Derek if he is enjoying his new shoe.
"Are you enjoying your new shoe son?"
"Its hard dad. I know this shot is perfect for me but past experiences always makes me feel as if the shoe may hurt me again. Sometimes I'm even afraid to wear it..."
"Did I not warned you when you were younger?"
"Yeah... You did..."
"Remember I told you to wait for the right shoe? But you allowed yourself to be attached to other shoes! It not only does damage to yourself BUT you also did damages to the shoes.
"I'm sorry dad..."
"I am a shoe maker and I will not let one go shoeless! For i always say - He who finds a suitable shoe finds a good thing!"

a tree

6 July 2007

A family of 5 was in a car driving on the road. They were driving up a huge mountain to a resort to spend their vacation. Below the mountain runs a river with a strong current leading to a waterfall up ahead. It was then, a racoon ran right in the way of the car causing the father to spin the wheel to the left, jammed at the brakes to avoid hitting it! While the car was being spin to the left, the back wheel hit a fallen rock from up the mountain which caused to back end of the car to be lifted up into mid air! With the front wheel still gripped on the ground, the car's end made a 180 degree swing. At that moment, the front wheel's grip on the ground loosen which caused the whole car to fly off the side of the road and down the mountain due to the pulling weight of the car's end.

The car landed on the side of the mountain but is still rolling down with great speed! The father stepped on the brakes many times but it appears the brakes was damaged from the events earlier! The car is heading down the mountain and straight to the river! Everyone in the car was screaming and crying but one. The father. He calmly placed his hands together in front of him and began to pray. The wheels then hit on some unevenness on the ground, swayed to the right a little and crashed into a huge old tree just two feet from the river!

The tree stopped the car. The family emerged from the car and between air bags with unharmed bodies. The father looked around but found no other trees nearby but that huge tree.

21 March 1830

Squirrels were gathering some nuts from higher up the mountain. One of them dropped a nut while running back to their hole! The nut rolled down the tree, down the side of the mountain and was stuck in between a few branches of another tree! Meanwhile, a family was having a picnic 2 feet from the river. It was a calm river at that time. Their family dog dug a hole in the ground and was about to bury something when he got scared off by a thunder from the sky! Suddenly a strong gust of wind hit the tree where the nut was stuck. The nut fell off the tree and roll right into the hole the dog dug. The dog went back to the hole and covered it up.

{This is not exactly a story but a testimony from someone long time ago which i dont really remember who. It wasnt exactly that dramatic but the person did fell off and a huge tree did save him and his family. 21 March 1830 was his thoughts and i kind of agreed. A tree that big cant be grown in 2 hrs. It takes hundreds of years to grow to that size. It even grew at that spot to catch the car at the last moment. It was as if someone knew what is going to happen 200 years from then and planted a tree there. Which reminded me of a verse.}

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

A.R.K- acts of random kindness

That is one of the four things I learnt from watching Evan Almighty.

Initially, I had a really bad impression about this movie from the reviews I get from those who had watched it. My personal thought of it before I watch was that it will more or less be like Bruce almighty. God will find the main character and give him all his powers. The guy will later learn something from it. And then the show would be a comedy.

So as Sunday late nights seems so long and boring forever. I decided to turn on my laptop as usual and do the same old routine stuff. I can not put it to words how bored I was at the time. But I made a decision. I decide to go into my family’s server and click onto the folder ‘movie’. And TATA...... “Evan almighty” outshone the other movies (mainly because I watch the others before). And yes. I double click on it and watch it.

And, nope. I had no regrets watching this show. It is true that this show is not as funny as Bruce almighty. And at times the show goes a little “lame?”. But what I truly like about the show is the story line.

This show talks about a guy call Evan who wants to ‘change the world’ and does not believe in God. Due to some reasons, he prayed for God to help him to ‘change the world’. So God appear in the form of a man and told Evan that if he wants to ‘change the world’, he have to build an ark. But of course, Evan does not believe that he is God. (If a stranger appear to me and says he is God, I too will not believe). Anyway, through many weird ways, God convince Evans God is God.

So Evan starts to build the ark the same size from the bible. At times he got off track. And he encountered a few other problems like his wife and kids leaving him and people mocking at what he is doing. However, God helped bring his family back. And with the help of his family and the animals, he completed building the ark by 22, September. A date that God told Evan a flood was coming, a date that the government wants the ark to be demolished.

Evan loaded all the animals on board. He warned the people that a flood will be coming and to get onto the ark. But the weather was burning hot and no one believed. Some people and even his wife try to coax him down the ark before the demolition. But he believed in what God told him. And at the eleventh hour just before the demolition truck was about to destroy the ark, drama as it is, it rained.

But before Evan can get happy, the rain stopped. His neighbors, the news reporters, the policeman, all who was there was laughing at him. But for Evan, he just know something is going to happen, he stood firm that something is going to happen and BOOM, the dam was broken and the flood was heading to where he was. Everyone rushed into the ark, and the rest is history…

Wait, there was an rainbow in the end too…

Four things I can learn from this show.

Firstly, Evan is like all of us. God reveal himself to us in different ways. But because God does not appear straight in front of us, we do not hear or know that he is talking to us. Sometimes, even though we know he is talking to us. We will try to avoid or run away from him. But despite all, God will keep talking to us.

Next, I learn to stand firm in whatever I do. Look at Evans, the whole world was against him. There was a point that even his family went away from him. But he stood firm in building the ark. He could stand firm because of his faith in what God told him. So despite all, he built the ark and save people from the flood. Sometimes in life, people may not agree with what you do. It can be your family, your best of friends or even your leaders. But if you know what you are doing is for God. If you know what you are doing is right. Stand strong!!!

Third, a quote from ‘god’ in the show, “Whatever I do, I do because I love you”

Last but not least. A.R.K- acts of random kindness

What is it saying? Well, if you do not know how to share God’s love, but you really want to. You start by showing acts of random kindness. You can start by smiling at someone, donate money to charity or even giving up your seats to the needy. It may not have an impact on the person immediately. But you will plant something into the person heart. Something that you may not know. Something that may affect his or her decision to accept Christ. Something that would change a life.

From your friend,

Afonso.

lets wait

Sam. A successful businessman. A man with everything he wanted. A happy family consisting a beautiful wife and two kids, Nicole and Nicolet. A new BMW he bought just last month from his raise. A big house with a seaside view. A happy man is he in the eyes of the world! A man chasing his dreams.

Is he really happy?

Sam. He works 9 to 5 every single day excluding overtime. Even on Sundays he has to fulfill appointments with clients. When his daughters approach him regarding school projects or the amount of A's they scored, his reply would be "Not now kids. I do not have the time. Maybe tomorrow alright?". When he return home, he would be too tired to even pat his beloved wife on the head. It has been long since he last kissed his wife or his kids. A family that went through countless nights without their daddy on the table for dinner. But in the name of trying to give them the best, he worked and worked. Pouring all he had into a sand castle.

How long will it last?

Sam. His beautiful wife now living in her mother's with Nicole and Nicolet. His company went bankrupt. His position, salary, everything he worked for, blown away like the sand in the wind. His car tolled away and his big house went on mortgage to clear heaps of debts. His friends left him(as if he didn't see this one coming). His dreams now seemed like a nightmare.

Is he really alone?

Sam. When he was young he was a church going boy. Whenever he was lonely he would call upon his best friend Jesus. When something good happens he would tell Jesus. When some big kid bullies him, he would run home and cry to Jesus asking for help. When he is free, he would read the bible and have conversations with Jesus.

Will it stay only in the pass?

Sam. He is crying alone at night. He remembered his childhood days and searched for his old bible. He hugged the book tightly in front of his chest and started praying. He started crying out for forgiveness. He seek for help. He wants to speak to his old friend again. He fell asleep soon after.

The end?

Sam. Woke up with the sun shinning bright in his face. Was about to leave the house and look for a job when he noticed a letter slipped under the door. With no address or sender's name, it is a really odd looking envelope. With no friends, he wondered if the letter was from his wife. Wrote with a unfamiliar handwriting, the letter read:

Dear Sam,
I missed you. I was hurt when you have forgotten me and went on sailing with your own strength! I was even more hurt when you decided to not listen to my voice anymore. After your 17th birthday you have given up on me but I havn't. Every night I have been trying to ask how your day is. I even screamed and shouted but it appears my voice is far too soft and too distant for you to hear. Yes yes, I know. I am all knowing! I should know how your day is! But... I just want to have a little conversation with the one I love. It sounds better coming out from your mouth.

On your wedding day, remember the white dove that landed on the table in front of you when you are exchanging rings? That was me! You thought I would not care about your wedding day didn't you? Why did I go as a dove huh? Because I could not talk to you anymore. Even if I congratulated, you would not hear me. There has been many countless times I tried to warn you too. At work when your colleagues were plotting something or when your company is going bankrupt! At home when your wife is feeling lonely and your kids are crying for daddy's attention!

The sheep recognizes the shepherd's voice. Remember my voice my dear child. Let me tell you a good news! I do not sleep. I watch over you day and night. I look forward for a conversation with you.

With an unconditional love,
Your best friend Jesus.

Sam. Tears flowing down his face. He knows he has found something he lost. With a voice still sore from the night's crying and yelling he said:

"I know You never sleeps. But if You get bored, I am still awake. Lets chat."
